My aim was to develop a series of musical pieces reflecting totally different energies which I even have been discovering in my life. To use easy melodies, sound textures & grooves supporting these energies to be felt by the listener…We had the chance to perform the “Wood” program at different venues in Switzerland during 2004 and 2005. This may clarify why some early 20th-century art music doesn’t immediately appeal to the popular Western ear. Many of the composers of this period avoided traditional Western harmonic group and embraced a modal fashion that avoids the predictability of major and minor scales. As this music does not observe the everyday guidelines of Western musical kinds and requires effort on the a part of the listener, it can be difficult for most people to understand.
